Boston, MA- On Monday, December 9, the eve of International Human Rights Day, the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum will host A Concert for Human Rights, featuring Arnold Steinhardt, world-renowned violinist with the Guarneri String Quartet. The concert is free and open to the public.
The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum will host a celebration of the naturalization of new citizens of the United States at a special ceremony presided at by The Honorable Douglas P. Woodlock, United States District Court Judge for the District of Massachusetts, on Wednesday, July 19, 2006 from 1:20 to 2:15 p.m. in the Stephen Smith Center. Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Chief Justice Margaret H. Marshall will be the keynote speaker at today’s ceremony.
BOSTON – The John F. Kennedy Library and Museum will host the premiere screening of National Geographic EXPLORER: The Search for Kennedy’s PT 109 on Monday, November 11, Veterans Day, at 5:30 p.m., in the Library’s Smith Center. A discussion with Robert Ballard, Maxwell Kennedy, and Richard Keresey, moderated by National Geographic EXPLORER host Boyd Matson, will follow the screening. Robert Ballard will also sign copies of his book, Collision with History: The Search for John F. Kennedy’s PT 109, with co-author Michael Hamilton Morgan. BOSTON — To help celebrate the Boston Red Sox, the Museum at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library has placed on special, temporary display baseball memorabilia from the Kennedy administration, including news footage of President Kennedy throwing out the first ball on opening days of the 1961 and 1962 baseball seasons. The ball the President threw out is on display on his desk in the Museum’s Oval Office exhibit. President Kennedy autographed the ball to commemorate the occasion. Also on display are the three annual passes given to the President by the American League Professional Baseball Clubs.

The papers, a collection of over 500 cubic feet spanning the years 1932-2006, consist of materials documenting Galbraith’s early career, his activities as a Professor of Economics at Harvard University (1949-1975); Ambassador to India (1961-1963); and author of The Affluent Society (1958), The Liberal Hour (1960), and other books on economics and government.

The papers, a collection of approximately 24 cubic feet, consist of materials related to Bundy’s work as Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard (1949-1959), Special Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs (1960-1965), and President, Ford Foundation (1966-1979). The collection spans from 1928 to 1979.

Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in honor of the late President. The papers, a collection of approximately 4.25 cubic feet, primarily relate to Kieffer’s involvement in the establishment of the National Cultural Center, Kieffer served as the secretary to the Board of Trustees (1959-1961), Executive Director (1961-1963), and as a consultant after leaving his official position as Executive Director (1964-1965). The collection spans from 1958 to 2004.

Kennedy in the U.S. Department of Justice as the Assistant Director of Public Information from 1961-1964. The papers, a collection of approximately 4.17 cubic feet, about 3,500 items, consist of materials related to the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Department of State, the Civil Rights movement, organized crime, and wiretapping. The collection spans from 1961 to 1999.

Cikins, who served in the White House from 1962 to 1966 during the Kennedy and Johnson administrations. The papers, a collection of approximately 70 cubic feet, document Cikins’ professional and volunteer work in civil rights, intergovernmental relations, equal opportunity employment, health care policy, criminal justice, and prison industries. The documents in the collection date from 1922 to 2011.
