BOSTON — To help celebrate the Boston Red Sox, the Museum at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library has placed on special, temporary display baseball memorabilia from the Kennedy administration, including news footage of President Kennedy throwing out the first ball on opening days of the 1961 and 1962 baseball seasons. The ball the President threw out is on display on his desk in the Museum’s Oval Office exhibit. President Kennedy autographed the ball to commemorate the occasion. Also on display are the three annual passes given to the President by the American League Professional Baseball Clubs.

"President Kennedy loved sports and loved baseball, and shared this passion with the American people," said Deborah Leff, Director of the Kennedy Library and Museum. "We’re thrilled to celebrate the Red Sox success by showcasing the connection between President Kennedy and the national pastime."

The baseball memorabilia is just one of the many exciting and inspiring exhibits visitors will find in the Museum at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library. The Museum’s 25 multimedia exhibits and period settings from the White House offer an exciting "you are there" experience, and create a stirring account of President Kennedy’s thousand days in office.
