Kennedy Library, received her profession’s most prestigious honor when she was named a Fellow of the Society of American Archivists (SAA) at the Society's annual meeting in Chicago, IL, August 28. The distinction of Fellow is awarded to a limited number of individuals in the nation for their outstanding contribution to the archival profession.
As part of its special programming for children and their families, and in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum announced that it will host a free performance by noted storyteller Sumner McClain who portrays “Daddy King,” the father of the Civil Rights leader, on Saturday, January 17. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum today announced that it has declassified and made available for research a presidential recording of President Kennedy and NASA Administrator James Webb discussing the future of the US space program. The meeting was held in the White House on September 18, 1963 and reveals President Kennedy’s private concerns over waning public support for space exploration.
BOSTON– The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum today announced that it has declassified and made available the final 45 hours of White House recordings that were secretly taped during President John F. Kennedy’s time in office. In all, President Kennedy recorded over 248 hours of meeting conversations and 12 hours of dictabelt telephone conversations on a system that remained a closely held secret even from his top aides. Today’s release encompasses meetings held during the three months leading up to the end of the Kennedy Administration.

Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum announced today that it has declassified and made available for research a presidential recording of a meeting between President Kennedy and four high level government scientists that took place in the Cabinet Room of the White House on July 31, 1963 during which President Kennedy expresses optimism that the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty could lead to a détente with the Soviet Union. Though the President is clearly interested in signing the treaty, he also expresses concern that other nations, like China, will conduct their own tests thus forcing the United States to return to testing.
