Kennedy Family Collection
KFC-051-001
This scrapbook, compiled by Kathleen Kennedy, documents her interests as a young girl from 1928 through 1930. The title on the front cover reads, “Our Own Scrap-Book.” An original handwritten inscription written in pencil on the front cover reads, “Kathleen Kennedy.” Of note are three numbered photomechanical prints of scenes on Cape Cod, Massachusetts; a Kennedy family Christmas card from 1928; and newspaper clippings regarding the potential candidacy of Kathleen’s grandfather, John F. “Honey Fitz” Fitzgerald, for Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 1930. Also of note are autographed publicity photographs of actresses Mary Pickford, Anita Page, Bessie Love, Norma Shearer, Joan Bennett, and Nancy Carroll, and an autograph with self-drawn caricature of the actress Gloria Swanson. An empty manila kraft envelope with a string-and-button closure and printed suggestions for use is adhered to the back pastedown of the scrapbook, with the inscription “Kathleen” handwritten in pencil on the flap. This scrapbook contains 39 pieces of ephemera, including newspaper and magazine clippings, postcards, telegrams, letters, and envelopes, as well as nine photographic prints.
