Some material was widely distributed by the Bureau, while other correspondence is specific to discussions between the BOB and the Council of Economic Advisers. Correspondents from the BOB include Kermit Gordon (director), Elmer B. Staats (deputy director), Arthur B. Focke (general counsel), and Raymond T. Bowman (assistant director for statistical standards). The file also contains charts of Congressional actions on appropriation bills; reports on financial aspects of proposed and pending legislation; Congressional testimony of Gordon on the public debt limit; and a paper by Andrew H. Gantt II titled "Central Governments: Cash Deficits and Surpluses."

Materials primarily consist of department and agency reports and briefing papers for the President on domestic and foreign affairs and national security. Topics include the economy, the Federal budget, the space program, labor disputes, and agriculture. Of note is a memorandum to President Kennedy from George Meany, President of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), regarding the recent economic developments in the United States.

Topics include the 1964 New York World's Fair, the early release of Federal highway funds to the States, and U.S. cotton imports. Of note is a report titled, "1962 Outlook and 1961 Year-End Economic Review," by Secretary of Commerce Luther B. Hodges. Also included in this folder is a booklet by the Alliance for Progress (Alianza para el Progreso) titled, ""El Progreso del Pueblo," a monthly newsletter for First National Bank, and a report titled, "Saline Water Conversion," by Stanford Research Institute (SRI). This folder contains some foreign language material.

President-elect Kennedy begins by announcing Vice President-elect Johnson as Chairman of the President’s Advisory Council on Space. The President-elect, Vice President-elect, Speaker Rayburn, and Senator Mansfield go on to answer questions from the press regarding the economy, the Federal budget, legislation, and potential changes to Congressional regulations.
