This folder contains material pertaining to the Federal Telecommunications System (FTS), a network of communication services for federal agencies. Items include a staff report by the General Services Administration (GSA) to the Bureau of the Budget on the proposed FTS; letters of intent to AT&T for Phases I and II of the project; GSA policy circulars; letters to heads of federal agencies; an article by Representative Jack Brooks on the FTS, reprinted from Public Utilities Fortnightly; a GSA report titled "Study of a Federal Telecommunications System for Civil Agencies"; a statement by Robert F. Mundy to the U.S. House Government Activities Subcommittee on "Communications and a Decentralized Federal Government"; and documents concerning the role of the FTS in emergency planning activities.

Records 1959-1964 (bulk 1961-1963). Microfilm copies of records of Administrator Bernard L. Boutin, and the subdivisions of the agency including the Defense Materials Service, Federal Supply Service, National Archives and Records Service, Public Building Service, Transportation and Communications Service, and Utilization and Disposal Service. Hard copy includes correspondence, a prospectus for alterations to the White House, and the Public Building Service's report on the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom.
