This folder contains correspondence related to President John F. Kennedy's military service during World War II. The folder contains letters, including from veteran PT 109 crew members, regarding Robert Donovan's book PT 109: John F. Kennedy in World War II, and article “PT 109: The Adventure that Made a President” in the November 1961 issue of the Saturday Evening Post, as well as the PT 109 film. The folder also includes correspondence related to the White House visit of Benjamin Kevu, an indigenous Solomon Islands scout from Rarumana village. Kevu was one of several indigenous Solomon Islands scouts (historically referred to as “natives”) who helped rescue the crew of the PT 109 during World War II.
