The folder also contains resolutions passed by the Alabama House of Representatives commending Governor George Wallace’s actions and a written statement by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. sent to religious leaders from a Birmingham jail.

The folder also contains copies of resolutions passed by various states and cities commending President Kennedy’s actions concerning racial relations in Birmingham.

White, various members of the White House staff, and individual citizens concerning civil rights demonstrations, incidents of police misconduct, and racially motivated violence, including the bombing of the Bethel Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. Of note are telegrams to the President from gospel singer Mahalia Jackson and baseball player Jackie Robinson (then the Vice President of Chock Full o’ Nuts).
