Former United States Ambassador to Guatemala Lester D. Mallory standing at a microphone during a ceremony in his honor. Guatemalan President Miguel Ydigoras Fuentes (standing to the right of Ambassador Mallory) dedicated a plaque and park in Guatemala City to Ambassador Mallory. The President's wife Maria Teresa L. de Ydigoras is standing to the President's left. The following is stamped on the verso of the photograph: "Secretaria de Informacion de la Presidencia de la Republica, Departmento Fotografico, Guatemala, C.A." Chief of Protocol Angier Biddle Duke forwarded an 8 1/2 x 12-inch photograph album containing this photograph with a memorandum dated May 2, 1961, to Personal Secretary Evelyn Lincoln. The Republic of Guatemala created the photograph album to show the "popular respect" paid to Ambassador Mallory.
