Davis Monumental Works, Inc. sent the photographs to President Kennedy with a letter dated September 18, 1962. A stamp on the verso of the photograph reads: "F.P. Davis Mon. Works Inc., Roslindale 31, Mass," [later known as Davis Monuments, Inc.]. The inscription on the plaque reads: "Birthplace of President John F. Kennedy, 35th President of the United States, born May 29, 1917 on this site, 83 Beals St., Brookline, Mass. This commemorative plaque erected by town of Brookline, Mass. on September 12, 1961."

Stephen McNulty, from the Stephen McNulty Studio in Miami Beach, Florida, sent the photograph to Senator Smathers.

Independence Day celebration in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 4, 1962. President John F. Kennedy is seated on the platform. Policemen are standing in front of the platform, and people are taking photographs of the occasion. Behind the seated group is an American flag. "Di Silvestro" is inscribed on the inside of the folio in which the photograph was sent to the White House. The photograph is accompanied by a letter addressed to Special Consultant to the President Honorable Carmine S. Bellino from Anthony J. Di Silvestro dated August 7, 1962, which states that two copies of a photograph taken by his wife on July 4, 1962, are enclosed. Mr. Di Silvestro asks if the President wouldn't mind autographing and returning one of the copies of the photograph.

President John F. Kennedy greeting approximately 1,850 American Field Service (AFS) students in the Rose Garden of the White House. President Kennedy is standing on the terrace in front of a microphone and five unidentified individuals stand behind him near a door. The photograph was sent to President Kennedy in a letter from Agnete Pihl, an AFS student from Norway. According to an accompanying letter, Ms. Pihl took the photograph with a Brownie 127 camera from the White House lawn.

A news release dated February 13, 1962, from the Department of the Interior declared that the commemoration launched a year-long national observance of the Homestead Act and other land anniversaries of 1962. Standing left to right are: Secretary of the Interior Stewart Udall, President Kennedy, Willis G. Scholl, President of the Farm Equipment Institute, Chicago, and C.R. Gutermuth, Chairman of the Public Domain Sesquicentennial Commission, Washington, D.C.
