John A Ryan and an Italian police officer on Via Veneto in Rome, Italy. Ryan (left), who served as Chairman of Senator John F. Kennedy's Overseas Committee for Contacting Absentee Voters during the 1960 presidential campaign, has pinned a Kennedy button on the police officer's lapel. Ryan sent this photograph and other materials pertaining to campaign rallies held in European cities to Personal Secretary Evelyn Lincoln with a letter dated May 29, 1963. The following caption is taped to the photograph below the image: "Mr. John A. Ryan, Chairman of Senator John F. Kennedy's Overseas Committee for contacting Absentee Voters stops Olympic Games traffic on Rome's famous Via Veneto to pin a Kennedy Button on an Italian policeman." An inch-wide strip of paper with two punched holes is taped to the left side of the photograph.
