Of note is Senator Kennedy’s acceptance speech titled, “The New Frontier,” given at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) upon receiving the Democratic Party’s nomination for the 1960 presidential election. In his speech the Senator addresses religion, Communism, nuclear weapons, and civil rights. He also discusses a New Frontier in America, which calls for leadership, courage, change, and opportunity for all.

In his speech the Senator argues for the suspension of nuclear testing provided the Soviet Union also suspends testing, discusses radioactive fallout, argues for an international agreement on nuclear testing, and suggests that if testing does occur it happen underground or in outer space.
