Model of the sod-buster plow presented to President John F. Kennedy to commemorate the centennial of the Homestead Act. A news release dated February 13, 1962, from the Department of the Interior declared that the commemoration launched a year-long national observance of the Homestead Act and other land anniversaries of 1962.
