Description
Sound recording of President John F. Kennedy’s remarks at a reception celebrating African Freedom Day (later known as African Liberation Day) held in the drawing room of the State Department Auditorium. In his speech President Kennedy discusses his hopes for strong relations between the United States and African nations and commends the efforts of African nations to achieve independence, drawing parallels to the political philosophies of the American Revolution.
