This folder contains memoranda, reports, telegrams, and memoranda of conversations regarding NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization). Topics include United States contributions to NATO’s defense infrastructure, political consultation within NATO, a proposed a multilateral nuclear force (MLF), and the future role of NATO. Also included in this folder are materials regarding meetings between President John F. Kennedy and the Atlantic Policy Advisory Group (APAG) and NATO ministers and permanent representatives; and a copy of an address by Dean Acheson, former Secretary of State and advisor to President Kennedy, titled, “NATO in the Light of the October Crisis.”
