The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) is providing notice of the final Environmental Assessment (EA), and Finding Of No Significant Impact (FONSI) regarding the proposed construct of a two story 28,000 square foot addition to the existing John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum building at Columbia Point, Boston MA.

NARA invited review and comment on the Draft EA by distributing it to the City of Boston including the Boston Conservation Commission, the Boston Environmental Department, the Boston Landmarks Commission, as well as the Massachusetts State Historic Preservation Officer and others.  NARA did the same for the general public by placing a Notice of a Public Meeting and the Draft EA in the Boston Globe on December 29, 2007, December 31, 2007 and January 1, 2008.   A Public Meeting was held on January 22, 2008, at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum.  Comments were received in response to these notices and responded to in the final EA.

Copies are available for public review at the National Archives website at http://www.archives.gov/about/plans-reports/environmental-assessment/.  Any questions about the EA and FONSI may be addressed to Mr. Sponn.

Construction is scheduled to begin this year.

Request copies of the final EA and FONSI by contacting David Sponn, Project Manager, National Archives and Records Administration, Space and Security Division, Room 2300, 8601 Adelphi Road, College Park, MD  20740-6001; phone (301) 837-2082; e-mail at david.sponn@nara.gov
