The hardcopy paper records include published studies and reports on arms control and disarmament issues, which were either produced by the agency itself or contracted out to other individuals and organizations.
Biographical Note
The United States Arms Control and Disarmament Agency (ACDA) was established as an independent agency by the Arms Control and Disarmament Act (75 Stat. 631), September 26, 1961. It was preceded by the U.S. Disarmament Administration under the Department of State (1960-1961). The functions of the ACDA are conducting, supporting, and coordinating research for arms control and disarmament policy formulation; managing U.S. participation in international arms control and disarmament negotiations; and directing U.S. participation in international arms control and disarmament systems.
