CBS (Columbia Broadcasting System) motion picture excerpt of President John F. Kennedy delivering a Special Message to Congress on Urgent National Needs in the House of Representatives chamber, United States Capitol, Washington, D.C. This is not the President's full address. In this excerpt the President argues for support for the nation's space program. While listing national goals, the President states, "First, I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to the earth."
