This folder contains correspondence between members of the President's Committee on Equal Opportunity in the Armed Services and Gerhard A. Gesell, Chair of the Committee, regarding the Committee's meetings. The folder also includes materials related to the Committee's work preparing a report for the President on segregation and discrimination against African American and Black individuals in the United States armed forces. Of note is correspondence with Whitney Young, Jr., Executive Director of the National Urban League.
